Bruno Fernandes has reportedly surprised Manchester United supporters after revealing that he handed his official Man of the Match trophy to a teammate following their dramatic 3-2 victory over AS Roma

Manchester United produced a remarkable comeback at Old Trafford, recovering from a two-goal deficit to defeat AS Roma 3-2 in a dramatic Champions League encounter. Michael Carrick’s side looked destined for another disappointing result after conceding twice in the opening 20 minutes, but an inspired second-half performance completely changed the story.

However, one of the biggest talking points came after the final whistle when Bruno Fernandes revealed that he had given away his official Man of the Match trophy to Matheus Cunha. Despite receiving the award himself, the Portuguese captain believed his teammate deserved the recognition more.

Bruno reportedly explained that Cunha’s determination, leadership and incredible work rate were crucial to United’s comeback, insisting that his contribution was what ultimately rescued the team from defeat.

United’s recovery began when Fernandes converted a retaken penalty in the 58th minute after his initial effort was saved by Devis Vásquez. Cunha then took centre stage, scoring twice in quick succession in the 83rd and 86th minutes to complete the turnaround.

The Brazilian’s night ended dramatically when he received a second yellow card late in the game, leaving United to defend their advantage with ten men.

Nevertheless, Carrick’s players held on for three valuable points, ending their nine-game winless run. Cunha’s performance and Bruno’s generous gesture have given supporters another memorable Old Trafford moment.
