Lisandro Martínez reportedly launches a furious defence after his red card against Chelsea

Manchester United’s 2–0 defeat to Chelsea has sparked fresh questions about the club’s defensive organisation, with Lisandro Martínez’s red card becoming one of the biggest talking points after the disappointing result.
The Argentine defender was dismissed in the second half following a challenge involving Chelsea’s Jorrel Hato. His sending-off left United with ten men, making an already difficult afternoon even worse. Cole Palmer subsequently converted the resulting penalty, adding to Chelsea’s advantage after Morgan Rogers had opened the scoring.
However, attention has also shifted towards an explosive statement circulating online, which allegedly claims Martínez is frustrated with a teammate’s defensive contribution. The unverified comments suggest the defender believes he has repeatedly been forced to cover spaces because another player fails to track back.
The same statement reportedly criticises Michael Carrick for continuing to favour a player despite concerns about his defensive work and pace.
There is, however, no reliable confirmation that Martínez made these remarks or confronted anyone inside the dressing room.
While United’s defensive structure deserves serious examination, Martínez must also accept responsibility for his challenge. His dismissal exposed the team at a crucial moment.
Carrick now faces growing pressure to improve United’s organisation, restore confidence and prevent individual mistakes from becoming recurring problems.
