AS Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini has reportedly been left frustrated after his side suffered a dramatic 3-2 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford

AS Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini was left disappointed after watching his side suffer a dramatic 3-2 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford, despite making a promising start to the encounter. The Italian side initially took control, frustrated the home supporters and managed to put United under serious pressure during the opening stages.
However, the contest eventually slipped away from Roma as one Manchester United star produced a performance that Gasperini’s defensive plans simply couldn’t contain. Speaking after the final whistle, the Roma manager admitted that his team struggled to deal with the player’s quality, even after attempting several tactical adjustments.
Gasperini explained that his side had experimented with three different defensive approaches in an effort to neutralise the attacking threat, but none proved effective. He praised the player’s exceptional ability and suggested that very few defenders in European football could cope with him in his current form.
Roma had initially relied on an organised defensive structure, aggressive pressing and tight marking to disrupt United’s rhythm. Their approach worked for significant periods, but the momentum gradually shifted as the hosts found ways through their defensive setup.
The defeat will undoubtedly frustrate Gasperini, especially considering how close his team came to securing an impressive result in Manchester. Roma must now regroup, while United will look to build on an important victory.
