Michael Carrick has reportedly issued a stunning warning to Manchester United and INEOS following the club’s disappointing clash with AC Milan
The atmosphere at Manchester United’s Carrington training base is reportedly becoming increasingly tense after manager Michael Carrick allegedly held firm talks with the INEOS leadership following the club’s disappointing 4-2 pre-season defeat to AC Milan in Wrocław, Poland. Reports circulating around the club claim Carrick has expressed serious concerns about the squad’s ability to compete at the highest level and has urged the hierarchy to act quickly in the transfer market.
After guiding United back into the Champions League since taking charge, Carrick is reportedly unwilling to begin the new Premier League campaign with weaknesses he believes could undermine his entire system. The Milan defeat appeared to expose several of those concerns, particularly United’s lack of defensive recovery pace, vulnerability in transition and struggles to deal with attacks through the wide areas.
According to the reported claims, Carrick has delivered a firm message to INEOS, warning that the current squad may be capable of competing in matches but does not possess enough quality to seriously challenge for trophies.
