A furious Michael Carrick reportedly delivered a brutal assessment of Manchester United’s defensive problems after their 4-2 pre-season defeat to AC Milan in Wrocław, with the manager allegedly warning the club hierarchy that urgent reinforcements are needed before the transfer window shuts.
What was expected to be a final confidence-building test before the Premier League season instead exposed serious weaknesses at the back. United managed to take the lead twice through Harry Maguire and Patrick Dorgu, but their advantage quickly disappeared as Milan tore through the defence during a devastating spell in the second half.
