Moises Caicedo emerged as Chelsea’s match-winner, scoring a late header to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Pafos on Wednesday night.
The Blues believed they’d taken an early lead when Enzo Fernandez nodded home, but the goal was disallowed after the Argentine was ruled to have fouled defender Ken Sema in the buildup.
Pafos nearly stunned Chelsea in the first half when Jaja’s deflected effort off Reece James struck the frame of the goal. Chelsea controlled proceedings after the interval, with Pafos goalkeeper Jay Gorter delivering an outstanding performance before finally being beaten by Caicedo’s header with 12 minutes remaining.

**Filip Jorgensen** – Replaced Robert Sanchez in goal. Had little to do initially but showed composure handling an awkward back-pass from Malo Gusto, controlling a bouncing ball with his chest. Forced off at halftime due to injury. **6**
**Malo Gusto** – Making his return after a three-game injury absence. Made a crucial sliding tackle to stop a dangerous Pafos counter. Solid if unspectacular display. **6**
**Wesley Fofana** – His second consecutive start in quick succession. Had a shaky opening when pressed high up the pitch, eventually clearing into touch. Improved as the match progressed and played a key role in setting up Caicedo’s winner. **7**
**Benoit Badiashile** – Came in for Trevoh Chalobah in the back four. Showed aggression, pushing into midfield on several occasions to win possession. Nearly created a spectacular assist for Estevao Willian, whose shot was blocked. **6**
**Jorrel Hato** – Earned a deserved start following strong recent cameos. Missed a promising opportunity just before halftime but performed well at left-back. **6**
**Reece James** – Returned after missing several matches. Put in a competent shift with good distribution before being substituted at the break. **6**
**Moises Caicedo** – Characteristically energetic off the ball, particularly early on when attempting to inject urgency into the team. Hasn’t been at his brilliant best lately but showed glimpses of that form tonight. Crucially grabbed the decisive goal. **8**
**Pedro Neto** – Appeared overly eager to create, sometimes forcing things. Another disappointing outing for the Portuguese winger, who continues to struggle for form. **5**
**Enzo Fernandez** – Deployed in a more advanced number 10 role. Created an excellent chance for Reece James on 16 minutes. Unfortunate to have his early header disallowed for a push. Among Chelsea’s standout performers. **7**
**Alejandro Garnacho** – Credit for his persistence, but delivered another frustrating performance on Chelsea’s left flank. Very direct but often predictable in his approach. On the positive side, showed strong work ethic defensively. **4**
**Liam Delap** – Started as Chelsea’s central striker. Virtually invisible in the opening period. Showed some decent touches when holding up play but generally struggled. **4**

**Estevao Willian** (on for James, 46′) – Chelsea desperately needed the Brazilian teenager’s creativity and brought him on at halftime. Nearly made an instant impact with a well-struck volley that was saved. Looked threatening throughout but couldn’t find the breakthrough. **7**
**Robert Sanchez** (on for Jorgensen, 46′) – Introduced at the interval. Rarely tested but made a vital punch to clear a dangerous Pafos cross in the 88th minute. **6**
**Jamie Gittens** (on for Garnacho, 70′) – Entered for the final 20 minutes. Picked up an early booking but showed some nice touches and dribbling ability. **6**
**Joao Pedro** (on for Delap, 70′) – Manager Liam Rosenior called upon the Brazilian late on. Couldn’t influence proceedings significantly but showed commitment. **6**
