Dimitar Berbatov has reportedly delivered a brutal assessment of Manchester United’s squad

Dimitar Berbatov has reportedly criticised Manchester United’s senior players, suggesting that two individuals have become such a burden that the club should terminate their contracts instead of waiting for potential buyers.
The former United striker is allegedly frustrated by the continued selection of players whose performances have failed to meet the club’s expectations. He reportedly believes reputation should not protect anyone from consequences when standards begin to drop.
His alleged comments come shortly after United secured an impressive 3–2 Champions League comeback victory over Roma at Old Trafford. Michael Carrick’s side initially struggled, falling two goals behind after Matías Soulé scored and Donyell Malen converted a penalty.
However, Bruno Fernandes reduced the deficit from the spot before Matheus Cunha scored twice to complete a remarkable turnaround.
Despite the victory, concerns remain about United’s defensive weaknesses and inconsistent performances. Berbatov reportedly believes occasional comebacks cannot hide the need for significant squad changes.
He is also said to favour a ruthless approach, arguing that players who can no longer contribute should make way for fresh additions.
With the January transfer window approaching, Carrick faces important decisions about his squad. However, terminating contracts would carry financial consequences, and the alleged Berbatov comments have not been independently verified.
United must now prove their Roma victory marks genuine progress rather than another temporary improvement.
