PL Match Centre reveals ridiculous reasons why Chelsea did not get a penalty for handball by Kovacic.

When Man City’s score was 0-1, the referee Anthony Taylor took a very unusual action by not penalizing Chelsea for Mateo Kovacic’s clean handball.

The official justification offered by Premier League Match Centre for it is simply ludicrous. Based on Match Centre, VAR “confirmed the referee’s call of no penalty, deemed the ball came from close proximity.”

Close proximity, however, has no bearing here as Kovacic’s hand posture in this instance was entirely unnatural – why Chelsea is already deprived by the officials even on the first matchday.
