Bruno Guimaraes insists he is’really pleased’ at Newcastle United, but has ‘ambitions’ to go ‘down the line’.
Guimaraes has established himself as one of Newcastle’s most significant players and a Premier League star since his £40 million transfer from Lyon in January 2022.
The 26-year-old, who now often represents Brazil, helped Newcastle finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League last season.
Eddie Howe’s squad has regressed this season, lying 10th with ten games left, but Guimaraes remains a target for some of the world’s greatest clubs.
Manchester City, the Premier League champions, are reportedly contemplating a £100 million bid for the 26-year-old, but they would certainly face opposition from Chelsea and Liverpool, both of whom are fans of the player.
Manchester United has also been linked with Guimaraes, and former Newcastle manager Dan Ashworth’s upcoming appointment as sporting director could pique the Red Devils’ interest.
Guimaraes told a press conference before of Brazil’s friendly against England at Wembley Stadium: ‘It’s always been my ambition to play here. I’ve always followed the Premier League, and being here has always been my ambition.

‘I believe that since joining Newcastle, everything in my life has been going well, both professionally and personally.
‘I’m thrilled to be playing in the world’s finest league alongside the best. I definitely intend to play here for a long time, but I also have other plans to relocate.
‘But this is something further down the line; I’m very thrilled to be in the league.’
French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Spanish giants Barcelona are also thought to be keeping an eye on Guimaraes, who will return to play for Newcastle on 30 March against West Ham.
