Following a lengthy VAR review, West Ham’s crucial victory over Aston Villa was ruled out due to a handball.
The Hammers bundled the ball over the line deep in stoppage-time and spun away in joy at an ecstatic London Stadium.
However, shouts changed to groans when the goal was reviewed for handball on the goal line.
It seemed to take a long time for people at Stockley Park to decide on a plan of action in east London.
Eventually, referee Jarred Gillett was instructed to look at the screen.
And, after observing, he concluded that the goal could not be sustained.
West Ham couldn’t believe it, with manager David Moyes appearing irritated during a six-minute assessment.
talkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams branded the check as ‘ludicrous’ and Andy Townsend added: “Was he looking for handball or fingerprints?”
After the game, talkSPORT asked Moyes if VAR inspections should include a time limit due to the lengthy period between the goal being scored and subsequently disallowed.
“I believe you should speak with VAR about it, and if you can’t get Howard’s [Webb] number, perhaps ask one of the other referees who can explain it better.
“As I already stated, we have had four handball scenarios go against us in the last week. That’s it; there’s not much else to say.
“In the second half, Villa improved; they were the better team at times. “I was very pleased with how we performed overall.”

West Ham had previously had a goal from Michail Antonio ruled out for handball, and the outcome was clearly not in their favour.
At full-time, boos went out from Hammers fans, who were plainly dissatisfied with their late-game misfortune.
Following their 2-2 draw with Burnley, West Ham have dropped points for the second consecutive Premier League game at home.
The point could be important for Villa in their quest to qualify for the Champions League next season.
