PERSONAL TERMS AGREED: PSG superstar agrees personal terms to join Man United after rejecting Liverpool and Chelsea huge offer

Manchester United are reportedly pushing ahead with plans to reshape their midfield this summer after reaching personal terms with a highly rated star currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain. Reports claim the player has already turned down lucrative approaches from both Liverpool and Chelsea, with Old Trafford now emerging as his preferred destination ahead of next season.
The agreement is believed to include a long-term five-year contract, signaling United’s determination to strengthen the squad as preparations continue for a major rebuild under the club’s new leadership structure.
United’s recent goalless draw against Sunderland once again highlighted the need for midfield reinforcements. The absence of Casemiro was heavily felt throughout the match, as the Red Devils struggled to impose themselves in the center of the pitch. Sunderland enjoyed long spells of possession and forced goalkeeper Senne Lammens into several important saves at the Stadium of Light.
Without the experienced Brazilian shielding the defense, United appeared vulnerable, while their attacking play also lacked sharpness. The team managed only two shots on target, underlining concerns about creativity and control in midfield.
Attention has now turned toward Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who has become one of the club’s leading targets. Journalist Sébastien Vidal reports that United have already made significant progress in negotiations with the Brazilian international and have successfully agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old.
The latest development is viewed as a huge breakthrough because Ederson had previously been strongly linked with a move to Atlético Madrid earlier in the year. However, the midfielder is now said to be open to joining Manchester United as the club accelerates its transfer plans.
INEOS are reportedly considering an offer worth around €50 million (£43.2 million) in an effort to complete the signing quickly before competition intensifies.
Ederson has built a reputation in Serie A as an energetic and reliable midfielder known for his ability to win possession back, protect the back four, and cover large areas of the pitch. His physical strength and defensive awareness have made him one of Atalanta’s standout performers in recent seasons.
While he may not be the type of midfielder who dictates the tempo with elegant passing or produces flashy moments in possession, United believe his work rate and defensive qualities could provide much-needed balance in the middle of the park.
At the same time, former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has urged the club to revisit their long-standing interest in Frenkie de Jong. United previously tried to sign the Barcelona midfielder before eventually completing a deal for Casemiro in 2022.
Stam believes De Jong’s technical quality and composure on the ball would make him an ideal addition despite concerns over the physical demands of the Premier League.
According to the former defender, De Jong remains one of the best midfielders in Europe when it comes to progressing the ball and controlling possession, qualities Manchester United have lacked consistently in recent seasons.
