Two Chelsea Star Now ‘Considering Leaving’ After Liam Rosenior’s Appointment and playing them in a wrong Position against Arsenal yesterday
Chelsea face the prospect of losing a crucial player this summer following his discontent with Liam Rosenior’s appointment as manager.
The club parted ways with Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day after relationships between the head coach and senior management deteriorated. They turned to Rosenior, who was managing fellow BlueCo-owned club Strasbourg, to take over the reins.
Although Chelsea struggled during Maresca’s final weeks, the Italian remained a popular figure in the dressing room, having steered the team to Conference League and Club World Cup glory. Pedro Neto revealed the squad was stunned by the announcement, questioning why the club would sack a manager who had delivered silverware.
However, the decision to dismiss Maresca now appears to be causing fallout, with tensions beginning to surface at Stamford Bridge. According to French publication L’Equipe, Enzo Fernandez is unhappy about the Italian’s departure.
The report suggests Rosenior’s appointment has prompted the midfielder to question his future at Chelsea, as he had built a strong rapport with his former boss. While Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly monitoring the situation, no January move is expected, though a summer transfer to the French capital could materialize.
Chelsea paid £107m to bring Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023, having been impressed by his World Cup performances. Given his standing within the squad, the club would demand a premium fee from any suitor.
The 24-year-old’s contract runs until 2032 on £180,000 per week, meaning Chelsea are under no obligation to sell. However, if Fernandez pushes for an exit, it could destabilize the dressing room and heap further pressure on Rosenior.
**Losing Fernandez Would Be Devastating for Chelsea**
Despite Fernandez’s early dissatisfaction under Rosenior, his departure would represent a massive blow to the club. Not only would it raise serious questions about their project if he forces a move, but they would also lose a vital source of goals.
Throughout Maresca’s only full season, only Cole Palmer (23) and Nicolas Jackson (15) contributed more goals and assists than Fernandez, who registered six goals and seven assists from an advanced midfield role. His form has continued into 2025/26, with the Argentine currently joint-top scorer alongside Joao Pedro with six goals apiece.
As vice-captain behind Reece James, his departure would create a leadership vacuum as significant as the loss of his attacking output. Fernandez deserves to compete at the highest level, and it’s now up to Chelsea and Rosenior to prove they can provide that platform.
