£99m striker has completed his medical to join Manchester United after agreeing five-years transfer deal to join the Reds.

Manchester United appear to be leading the race to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, despite internal discussions at Tottenham Hotspur about making a move for the forward. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed during his appearance on the Market Madness podcast by GIVEMESPORT that United are currently in a stronger position than Spurs.

Mbeumo’s name has been a focal point in the transfer market this summer, especially following the appointment of Thomas Frank as Tottenham’s new head coach. Having previously managed Mbeumo at Brentford, Frank is understandably interested in reuniting with the talented Cameroonian, who played a significant role in his former team.

While Spurs have reportedly discussed bringing in Mbeumo since Frank’s arrival, Manchester United have gone a step further. The Red Devils are actively in contact with Brentford and the player’s representatives, engaging in frequent discussions to work out a potential deal. Romano noted that although negotiations with Brentford can be challenging—given their firm stance on player valuations—United are persistent and determined to reach an agreement.

What gives United an edge is Mbeumo’s own preference. He’s said to be eager to join the Old Trafford side and has made his intentions clear to Brentford. However, United are under pressure to wrap up the deal swiftly, as interest from other clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Newcastle, could complicate matters if it drags on.

In Ruben Amorim’s tactical setup, Mbeumo could serve in an attacking midfield role or as a winger, adding versatility and pace to United’s front line. His Premier League experience and strong numbers—20 goals and 9 assists last season—make him a valuable target. Despite Tottenham’s interest and Frank’s pull, United remain the clear frontrunners, and the focus now is on agreeing a final transfer fee with Brentford before any rival swoops in.
