Manchester United have already begun reshaping their attack with the arrival of Matheus Cunha and are still targeting a wide attacker and a new striker. Mbeumo is one of the key names on their radar, and the club recently saw a bid turned down by Brentford. Still, there is optimism from United’s end, as the player is reportedly pushing for the move. Even with competition from Arsenal and Newcastle United, Mbeumo’s preference remains Manchester United — a boost for the club as they work to finalise the deal.
Though Spurs may appear to have an edge by offering Champions League football — having beaten United in the Europa League final — and potentially hiring Mbeumo’s current manager, that hasn’t shifted the player’s focus. Sources close to the situation suggest Mbeumo believes in Manchester United’s long-term vision under Rúben Amorim, and the club’s proposal is more lucrative than what Tottenham have tabled. United are believed to have offered a weekly wage in the region of £150,000 to £200,000, significantly more than Spurs’ £130,000 proposal.
Brentford, for their part, are holding out for a fee around £60 million, rejecting United’s opening offer of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons. But there’s growing confidence that an agreement can be reached, especially as personal terms are already close to being settled. Mbeumo had an outstanding season with 12 goals and 17 assists, contributing to 29 goals in all — a remarkable return, especially in a Brentford side that experienced inconsistency throughout the campaign.
