The Supercomputer that predicted Argentina to win the World Cup in 2022 has finally predicted where Manchester City will finish this Season
Man City is predicted to win the Premier League title by a supercomputer.
Manchester City are now fourth in the Premier League rankings following a four-game winless streak.
Despite being in the midst of a poor run of form, Manchester City remains the favourite to win the Premier League title this season.
Wednesday night’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa at Villa Park extended the Blues’ Premier League winless streak to four games, their longest without a three-point haul in the league since April 2017. Leon Bailey scored the game’s sole goal, breaking City’s run of three consecutive draws, but not in the way manager Pep Guardiola had wanted.
With Arsenal and Liverpool both winning in midweek and capitalising on City’s defeat in the Midlands, the Blues are now fourth in the table, six and four points behind their primary title challengers. They might be nine points behind Arsenal by the time they face Luton Town on Sunday afternoon at Kenilworth Road.
Despite their current troubles, City’s chances of retaining their Premier League crown and capturing their fourth title in a row should not be underestimated. They are the only squad capable of going on a long victory streak.
And, despite presently sitting fourth in the rankings, City remain the odds-on favourites to retain their title, with Opta’s stats giving them a 44.7 per cent chance of winning the title. Arsenal, who are presently two points ahead of Liverpool at the top, have a 26.4 percent chance of finishing first.
City’s prospects of finishing second are also better than those of Arsenal and Liverpool, according to Opta data, with the Etihad Stadium club having a 30.7 percent chance of finishing second. Arsenal’s chances of finishing second are 29.9 percent, Liverpool’s are 30.2 percent, and the Merseysiders’ chances of finishing first are 22.6 percent.
Furthermore, Opta estimates Manchester City has an 18% chance of finishing third and a 4.8% chance of finishing in the final Champions League slot that they now hold. City’s odds of finishing outside the top four are becoming more tiny, with stats suggesting they have a 1.4% chance of finishing fifth and a less than 0.5% chance of finishing sixth or seventh.
Looking at the general landscape of their immediate championship opponents, Liverpool are regarded more likely to finish second than Arsenal, with a 30.2 percent likelihood to the Gunners’ 29.9 percent. Despite their present strong position at the top, Arsenal’s odds of finishing third remain as high as 28.2 percent.
Villa is also now involved in a hot title race, but their chances of remaining in the top four, namely third, are assessed at 15.3 percent. They are, nevertheless, the current favourites to finish fourth, with a 34.8% likelihood.
