Manchester United have reportedly identified Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White as a potential option to replace Bruno Fernandes if the club captain eventually decides to leave Old Trafford

Manchester United have reportedly added Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White to their list of potential future replacements for captain Bruno Fernandes should the Portuguese star eventually leave Old Trafford.

Gibbs-White is understood to have supported United from a young age, with former Red Devils captain Wayne Rooney reportedly one of his biggest childhood idols. The England international is also believed to have ambitions of competing at the highest level, including playing in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite the reported interest, a move for Gibbs-White is not expected to happen this summer. Fernandes still has 12 months left on his current United contract, while the club also have the option to extend his deal for another year.

With little indication that Fernandes is preparing to leave during the current transfer window, United are unlikely to make an approach for Gibbs-White at this stage. The Forest midfielder could instead become a serious option in a future transfer window if the club eventually need to find a successor to their captain.

Could Morgan Gibbs-White be the ideal player to take over from Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United in the future?
