In the Bournemouth stalemate, Mauricio Pochettino was ‘disappointed’ with Chelsea’s full-backs.

The Blues’ slow start to the new season continued at the Vitality Stadium, as they were forced to settle for a goalless draw despite a slew of good chances.

Indeed, the situation could have been much worse if it hadn’t been for two outstanding stops from Robert Sanchez, who denied Andoni Iraola his first win as Cherries manager.

While Pochettino was quick to highlight the positives, he admitted he was disappointed with the performances of Levi Colwill, Malo Gusto, and Ben Chilwell, who came on as a late substitute.

‘One thing I’m disappointed about is that they [the full-backs] attempt to move forward too much, which confuses the offensive players and gives the opponent chances,’ he remarked.

Chelsea have not scored a Premier League goal since Nicolas Jackson scored against Luton Town on August 25, but Pochettino believes the goals will start to flow soon.

‘In the end, the stats show that it wasn’t enough. He stated that it is always about the game. ‘We should easily win 1-0 or 2-0 today because we had chances in the first 30 minutes.

‘If we didn’t score and didn’t win the game, perhaps you might tell the fans that it wasn’t enough.

‘We need to be tough in our approach. We must demonstrate our effectiveness in front of the goal. We must remain calm as well, but these situations are not always simple for the players. Nobody is to blame.

‘In the last 10 minutes, our full-backs and several defensive players sought to handle the offensive players’ jobs. We couldn’t always risk the point.

‘I like it versus being serene and tranquil. They are quite concerned about the game and the scenario. The effort was excellent.’
