Chelsea supporters criticized attacker Mykhailo Mudryk’s performance in his team’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday (April 27). Despite a few bad individual performances, the Blues showed wonderful spirit in coming back from a two-goal deficit to earn a draw.
Mauricio Pochettino’s youthful team was thrashed 5-0 by Arsenal on April 23 and then played another high-flying side shortly after. As has been the case in most games this season, they were without a number of key players for the encounter at Villa Park.
Despite his lack of success against Arsenal, Pochettino chose to start Mudryk for the second time in a row. The Ukrainian international once again played on the periphery, unable to have an influence on the game.

Mudryk only lasted 89 minutes owing to the Blues’ lack of attacking alternatives on the bench, with academy standout Tyrique George being the only comparable substitution. He made two out of five successful dribbles and won three of his eight ground duels.
Mudryk was finally replaced by midfielder Cesare Casadei, as Pochettino sought a late winner for his team.
Chelsea supporters were mostly displeased with the 23-year-old’s performance, and they expressed their displeasure via X.
