“I think they are the only good players we have and they can be able to take us to the next level. They are the best players we have currently”-Kobbie Mainoo shocks the fans as he names two best Man United teammates and reveals surprise old position. Not Alejandro Garnacho, Not Rasmus Højlund.

In his debut interview with club media, Kobbie Mainoo, a promising talent at Manchester United, shared the names of two standout players whom he admires most from his time on the pitch.

Since making his Premier League debut against Everton in November, the 18-year-old has swiftly become an integral part of Erik ten Hag’s squad, featuring in 12 league matches this season.

While United’s overall season has been marked by disappointments, Mainoo’s rise has been a shining moment for both the club and its supporters.

Engaging in a Q&A session with United’s under-9s team, Mainoo answered various intriguing questions, including inquiries about the best player he has had the privilege to play alongside.

“I would say Bruno [Fernandes],” Mainoo responded, acknowledging the exceptional talent of the Portuguese midfielder. “Casemiro as well.”

The trio has formed a strong midfield partnership in recent matches, although Jamie Carragher has pointed out certain tactical issues in Ten Hag’s midfield setup at Old Trafford.

Another question that drew an interesting response from the young midfielder was about his goal-scoring record.

Although unable to provide an exact tally, Mainoo disclosed his past role as a striker during his younger years.

“That’s a good one. That’s a tough one,” he remarked. “I know when I was like your guys’ age and a little bit older, I was a striker, so I would’ve scored a lot around then, but recently, not as many. But I’m trying to get back on the scoresheet a bit more.”

Notably, Mainoo has already scored two goals for United’s first-team squad, including a memorable last-minute winner against Wolves.

“I’ve watched it a few hundred times so it’s sunk in now!” Mainoo exclaimed. “To be honest, I hadn’t thought about [the celebration] or anything. It just felt right when I scored it, you know. It was a nice clutch moment.”
