Barcelona’s Balde Decision Sparks Fresh Manchester United Transfer Speculation

Barcelona have raised plenty of eyebrows after Alejandro Balde was surprisingly left out of the squad for their La Liga opener against Elche, despite the defender not being reported as injured.

The decision immediately reignited speculation over the 22-year-old’s future, with Manchester United once again being mentioned as a possible destination. United are understood to be keeping a close eye on Balde as they continue searching for another left-back before the transfer window shuts.

According to ESPN, Manchester United have made enquiries about the Spanish defender, although there is currently no certainty that a deal will be completed. One of the biggest issues could be the proposed structure of the transfer. United would reportedly prefer to take Balde on loan with an option to buy, while Barcelona are believed to favour a permanent sale.

Balde’s reported valuation is believed to be somewhere in the region of €30 million to €40 million, meaning negotiations over the deal could become complicated if the two clubs refuse to compromise.

However, his absence from Barcelona’s squad should not automatically be interpreted as proof that a transfer is imminent.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick addressed the situation and suggested that Balde had several things on his mind and needed some time to reflect. Flick also made it clear that he had not instructed the player to leave the club.

That explanation adds another layer of uncertainty to the situation. While Balde’s omission has naturally intensified the transfer rumours, there is still no confirmation that he is close to joining Manchester United.

Nevertheless, several factors make the situation worth watching. United are genuinely monitoring Balde, the player’s future has become a subject of speculation, and Barcelona could reportedly consider selling him if the right opportunity emerges.

For Manchester United, the appeal is obvious. Balde possesses impressive pace, attacking quality and the ability to provide greater depth on the left side of the defence, an area United are keen to strengthen.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have other options available. João Cancelo can operate on the left, while youngster Xavi Espart reportedly impressed during the opening fixture, potentially giving the Catalan club more flexibility if Balde eventually departs.

If Barcelona decide that the defender is available for transfer, United could suddenly find themselves in a strong position to make a move. With the transfer deadline getting closer, the situation could develop rapidly.

For now, Balde’s omission has transformed what might have been viewed as a simple squad-selection decision into another major transfer storyline. Manchester United are watching, Barcelona appear to be weighing their options, and Balde’s future remains uncertain.

What happens next could depend on whether Barcelona are willing to accept United’s preferred loan proposal or insist on a permanent transfer.

THE BALDE TRANSFER SAGA IS HEATING UP… AND A MAJOR TWIST COULD STILL COME BEFORE THE WINDOW CLOSES!
