Manchester United Turn Up the Heat as Carlos Baleba Deal Enters Crucial Final Stage

Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to sign Carlos Baleba, with the proposed transfer reportedly moving closer to completion after another round of negotiations.

The Red Devils remain firmly focused on bringing the Brighton midfielder to Old Trafford and have maintained contact with the Premier League club as they look to wrap up the deal. Baleba has emerged as one of United’s leading midfield targets, with discussions now believed to be progressing significantly.

United are reportedly prepared to pay around £65 million for the Cameroon international, consisting of approximately £60m in guaranteed money and a further £5m in potential bonuses. The figure would represent a major reduction from Brighton’s previous asking price, which had reportedly been around the £100m mark.

A major breakthrough has also reportedly been reached on the player’s side. Baleba is said to have agreed personal terms with United, with a five-year contract waiting to be signed once the two clubs settle the remaining details of the transfer.

The 22-year-old has been admired by United for some time, and his qualities make him an attractive option for Michael Carrick’s midfield plans. His strength, energy, defensive work and ability to cover ground would add a different dimension to the team.

Since moving to Brighton from Lille in 2023, Baleba has established himself as an imposing Premier League midfielder. His ability to win physical battles, protect the defence and carry the ball forward has made him an important player for Brighton, while his experience has continued to grow at the highest level.

United had previously struggled to pursue the midfielder because of Brighton’s huge valuation, but the current negotiations have opened the door for a potential agreement at a considerably lower price.

The club have already added Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos to their midfield this summer, but Baleba would offer a different profile, particularly with his defensive strength and ability to play as a natural holding midfielder.

Although the final agreement between United and Brighton still needs to be completed, the signs are increasingly positive. Reports suggest Baleba could travel to Manchester for his medical once the clubs officially reach an agreement.

United are pushing, Brighton are negotiating and Baleba is reportedly ready to make the move. The remaining details could now determine whether one of United’s biggest midfield pursuits finally reaches the finish line.
