Man United Surge Ahead in £80m Midfield Deal as Transfer Plans Gather Pace Across Multiple Targets
Manchester United are reportedly leading both Chelsea and Liverpool in the chase for one of Europe’s most highly rated midfield talents in a deal worth around £80 million. An agreement is said to already be in place running until 2029, with all paperwork reportedly signed and only a medical left before the transfer is officially completed.
Their return to Champions League football has significantly boosted United’s appeal in the transfer market, putting them in a stronger position to attract elite players who are now viewing Old Trafford as a top destination once again.
Meanwhile, the club are also keeping close tabs on Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall, who is said to be open to a move to Manchester United as he prioritises Champions League football. The 21-year-old is also believed to be unhappy with how he was handled by Eddie Howe during the closing stages of the season, which he feels may have damaged his chances of making Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad.
Despite his interest in a switch to Old Trafford, Newcastle are expected to resist any attempts to sell him easily, especially with the former Chelsea academy graduate still having three years left on his contract. The Magpies are also reluctant to strengthen a direct rival, while Chelsea are monitoring his situation but are currently unable to offer European football at the highest level.
In attacking areas, United are also exploring options to strengthen the left side. Patrick Dorgu has impressed in a more advanced role, scoring three goals in his last three starts under Michael Carrick, but the club are expected to sanction departures first—most notably Marcus Rashford, who is set to return from his loan spell at Barcelona.
West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville is another player on their radar after standout performances for the Netherlands at the World Cup. Although he may not arrive as an immediate starter at Old Trafford, he is seen as a strong squad option, particularly with Matheus Cunha currently excelling on the left wing since his January arrival.
