Jurgen klopp says Man United will dominate the league if they sign this particular player

Manchester United wrapped up their final Premier League home fixture of the season with an exciting 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, delivering an entertaining display for the fans at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick would have taken plenty of positives from the performance, particularly in attack. Lisandro Martinez continued to show signs of rediscovering his best form, while Bruno Fernandes once again proved his importance by matching the Premier League assist record.

As attention gradually shifts toward the future, the incoming permanent manager will also have decisions to make regarding Amad and Bryan Mbeumo, whose performances have reportedly dipped since Carrick stepped into the role.

Elliot Anderson’s display also stood out and likely reinforced why INEOS have long admired the midfielder despite concerns surrounding his valuation. However, reports suggest the player is leaning towards a move to Manchester City rather than Old Trafford, making a United deal appear increasingly difficult.

With that situation becoming more complicated, the Red Devils are believed to have turned their attention toward Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali as an alternative option.

Earlier reports suggested that United could struggle to land the Italian international due to Newcastle’s heavy valuation, with figures around £100 million being discussed for one of the club’s most valuable assets. Combined with Tonali’s salary demands, a summer transfer had appeared difficult, while speculation over a return to Italy also continued.

Fresh reports from Italy, however, have presented a different scenario. It is being claimed that Newcastle could be forced into difficult financial decisions due to Profit and Sustainability Rules following their failure to secure Champions League qualification.

As a result, the Magpies may now be willing to listen to offers for the former AC Milan midfielder. While a return to Serie A reportedly remains unlikely because of the financial package involved, both Manchester United and Manchester City are said to be monitoring developments closely.

The latest reports indicate Newcastle may now consider offers around £87 million, slightly lower than previous estimates.

For United, the situation could create an opportunity to strengthen their midfield with a player who offers quality both defensively and offensively. Tonali’s energy, composure, and all-round ability could provide exactly the type of presence Carrick may want in the centre of the pitch as the club continues rebuilding for the future.
