Carrick Closer to United Job as Fernandes Wins Award, Casemiro Exit Looms

Michael Carrick is reportedly edging closer to being confirmed as Manchester United’s permanent manager, with an official announcement possibly coming as soon as next week.

At the same time, Bruno Fernandes has been named the 2026 FWA Player of the Year, becoming the first Manchester United player to win the honour since Wayne Rooney in 2010.

In midfield, further changes are expected this summer as Casemiro is reportedly set to leave in June, with the club already planning ahead for a rebuild.

United are said to be considering several options to reinforce the midfield, including Aurélien Tchouaméni, Carlos Baleba, and Ederson as potential targets.

The club is preparing for a major squad reshuffle under a new era, with strengthening the midfield seen as a key priority ahead of the next season.
