Michael Carrick admits Manchester United simply can’t function properly without this three players
Michael Carrick has reportedly confessed that Manchester United are finding it extremely difficult to cope without one particular player in the starting lineup. The United boss is said to have admitted that leaving the player out against Sunderland turned out to be a costly mistake after the team struggled to impose themselves on the game.
“I honestly thought we could handle the match without him, which is why I made the decision to rest him,” Carrick reportedly said. “But after watching the performance, it’s clear we are not functioning at our best without him in the side. He plays a massive role in everything we do.”
Reports suggest the disappointing draw highlighted several problems within the squad, as United looked short of composure, leadership, structure, and control for large periods of the match. The team reportedly failed to dominate midfield and lacked the balance needed to break Sunderland down effectively.
Carrick is now believed to have realised just how influential the unnamed player has become to the squad, with many supporters insisting the outcome of the match could have been very different had he started from the beginning.
A section of the fanbase even believes United would have comfortably secured all three points if the player had been included in the lineup from kickoff.
