Manchester United have reportedly completed a full agreement for what is expected to be their first signing of the summer, with a leading European star set to commit to a five-year contract.
Even though United already boast one of the most productive attacks in the Premier League — with only Arsenal and Manchester City scoring more goals — the club are still eager to add more firepower before next season begins.
The ambition at Old Trafford appears clear. The club want to assemble one of the strongest attacking units not only in England but across Europe, and plans are already in motion for two additions during the transfer window.
Reports suggest INEOS are prioritising the arrival of a left winger, while a reserve striker is also under consideration. However, that second move may depend on the future of Joshua Zirkzee and whether he leaves the club this summer.
One player now being linked with United is Donyell Malen. While the identity of their preferred winger remains unclear, fresh reports from Italy have pointed toward the Dutch attacker as a possible option in attack.
According to claims from Italian media, several top clubs have been closely monitoring Malen’s performances during his loan spell away from Aston Villa. The forward has impressed with an excellent return of 11 goals in 14 matches, attracting growing attention across Europe.
Among the clubs said to be tracking him are Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United.
It is also believed that AS Roma, who signed him on loan in January, are keen to make the move permanent. The Serie A side reportedly hold an option to buy him for €25 million, but could consider selling immediately if an offer in the region of €50 million arrives.
Although United’s interest makes sense given Malen’s versatility and recent form, that valuation may prove difficult to justify. His previous spell in the Premier League did not make a major impact, meaning any return to England would come with some uncertainty.
If the asking price were lower, he could represent a smart squad addition and reliable support option in attack. But at €50 million, United may need to think carefully before making their move.
