Brentford coach Keith Andrews reveals the ONE Man United player that really shocked Him last night

Manchester United moved to the brink of confirming their return to the UEFA Champions League after edging Brentford F.C. 2-1 at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Goals from Casemiro and Benjamin Šeško secured another crucial three points for the Red Devils, although the overall display left room for improvement.

Brentford arguably looked the sharper side for long spells and created several dangerous moments, but United showed resilience to hold on and strengthen their grip on third place in the table.

Michael Carrick deserves major credit for the dramatic improvement in form since taking charge, and INEOS now appear to have a straightforward decision to make regarding the vacant managerial role this summer.

One of the biggest positives on the night was the return of Harry Maguire, who came back from suspension and delivered an outstanding performance.

The England defender was dominant at both ends of the pitch and also provided the assist for Casemiro’s opener. United had clearly missed his presence in recent matches, and aside from one second-half mistake, he looked commanding throughout.

Maguire finished the match with one assist, 12 defensive actions, two tackles attempted, nine clearances, one blocked shot and three recoveries. He also won every ground duel and lost just one aerial contest.

Beyond his defensive work, the centre-back was calm and composed in possession. He completed 89 percent of his passes, created a big chance, delivered a key pass and completed six accurate long balls.

He nearly crowned his display with a goal, going close twice with headers, including one effort that was cleared off the line.

With Lisandro Martínez suspended and Matthijs de Ligt still sidelined through injury, Carrick will be hoping Maguire maintains this excellent form until the end of the campaign.

After signing a short-term extension and helping push the club back toward Europe’s elite competition, Maguire is proving many doubters wrong and rewarding the faith shown in him by Manchester United F.C..
