Manchester United have called up five academy players for their upcoming trip to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur, following a wave of injuries during the week.
During his pre-match press briefing, manager Ruben Amorim suggested that several key players could be unavailable. However, the confirmation of Amad’s season-ending injury was an unexpected blow. Additionally, Kobbie Mainoo is sidelined for a few weeks, with Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer also ruled out for the Spurs fixture.
According to Scoop, a reliable source on United’s youth system, Amorim has turned to the Carrington academy to address the squad gaps. Midfielder Jack Moorhouse and Sekou Kone, who recently recovered from an injury that delayed his progress, have been drafted into the squad.
Rising forward Chido Obi, who has been in exceptional form recently, has also earned a call-up. Obi may feature if United struggle to break down Ange Postecoglou’s defense. In goal, Elyh Harrison will travel with the squad. The club opted to retain him for first-team depth instead of arranging a loan move. Harrison was on the bench during United’s recent league fixture against Crystal Palace.
