Man Utd fans all saying same thing about ONE particular player after performance vs FCSB, ‘screaming’ point is loud and clear
Manchester United fans were in agreement about Tyrell Malacia’s performance in the Europa League clash against FCSB, with many expressing concerns over his role in the team.
Since Ruben Amorim took charge at Old Trafford last November, the Red Devils have enjoyed a resurgence in European competition. Erik ten Hag had led United to three consecutive Europa League draws before his dismissal in 2024. However, the team turned things around under Ruud van Nistelrooy and Amorim, securing four straight wins before their trip to Bucharest. With a disappointing domestic campaign leaving them 12th in the Premier League and trailing the top four by 12 points after 23 matches, the Europa League appears to be their best shot at securing Champions League football next season.
Malacia had a tough night at the National Arena, making his long-awaited return after missing the entire previous season due to injury. Since joining from Feyenoord in 2022, he has mostly played as Luke Shaw’s understudy. This season, he has featured in eight matches following a recovery from two knee surgeries. Deployed as a wing-back in Amorim’s system, the Dutchman struggled to make an impact on the left flank, leading to a subdued first-half display. United went into the break with a goalless draw, and Malacia was replaced by Alejandro Garnacho.
Following the match, fans took to social media to voice their concerns about Malacia’s future at Old Trafford, particularly with Patrick Dorgu reportedly close to signing from Lecce. Many felt the Danish defender would offer a significant upgrade on the left side, with some suggesting Malacia would find it difficult to secure playing time once Dorgu arrives.
One fan commented that Malacia’s performance justified the club’s pursuit of Dorgu, while another pointed out that Amorim’s system relies on attacking wing-backs, something Malacia does not naturally provide. Others highlighted how Dorgu’s inclusion could make the team far more dangerous in attack, criticizing Malacia’s cautious approach and lack of directness.
Despite his struggles, some acknowledged that Malacia is still regaining form after long-term injuries. However, his limitations as a wing-back were evident, and many believe Dorgu’s arrival could spell the end of his time at United. With other left-backs like Miguel Gutiérrez and Milos Kerkez also linked with moves, questions remain about whether United should invest in multiple options or if Dorgu alone would be enough to reinforce the position.
