FIFA has just announced VERY SAD NEWS for the Officials and Referees of the match between Manchester United vs Brighton and this have cost them thier Job after not awarding a clear goal calling it Offside
After an amazing offside offense was observed, Manchester United had their second goal against Brighton called out.
After Alejandro Garnacho arrived at the rear post to touch Bruno Fernandes’ cross, United believed they had a 2-1 lead on 70 minutes.
Claiming the goal, the Argentinean—who had come off the bench twice in a week—went over to celebrate with his team-mates trailing behind.
However, the ball actually veers off fellow replacement Joshua Zirkzee; the issue is whether the Dutchman touched it before it crosses the line.
Zirkzee’s knee was not beyond the line by the least of margins according slow-motion footage.
Worse, he was slightly ahead of Garnacho when he shot, therefore VAR had to decide him to be offside and forbid the goal.
You can view the footage below.
On their Match Centre Twitter page, the Premier League confirmed the ruling stating: “Zirkzee’s goal was given on-field.
“The VAR advised that the goal was disallowed after looking for a possible off-side against Zirkzee. [The referee] resumed play with a Brighton free-kick.
Former United striker Danny Welbeck, who scored his 100th career goal, had previously gone behind Erik ten Hag’s team in the first half.
Then equalised via Amad Diallo, starting his first Premier League game of the season.
Ten Hag and United had late misery, too, when Joao Pedro headed the ball into the bottom left corner beyond Andre Onana and was left unmarked in the penalty area from a Brighton cross.
