Manchester United listen to Van Nistelrooy and ‘pursue transfer’ for Euro 2024 prodigy. According to French outlet L’Equipe, Man Utd have obliged the legendary striker’s request and have begun ‘working on a deal’ to sign Simons, who is valued at £70m.

Manchester United appears to have heeded the recommendation of their new assistant manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy, by pursuing Dutch talent Xavi Simons.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder impressed at Euro 2024 with standout performances for the Netherlands, catching the attention of numerous European clubs.

At 21, Simons had an impressive season on loan at RB Leipzig, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists in 43 games, following PSG’s £5 million re-signing from PSV Eindhoven.

Van Nistelrooy, who previously managed Simons at PSV, is a strong advocate for the young star and has urged Manchester United’s leadership to make a bid.

According to French outlet L’Equipe, Manchester United is responding to the legendary striker’s advice and has started ‘working on a contract’ for Simons, who is valued at £70 million.

Simons is the second PSG player on Manchester United’s radar, with sporting director Dan Ashworth also pushing to finalize a deal for midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan has already agreed to personal terms, and transfer fee negotiations are progressing well.

While Ugarte’s signing is imminent, Simons’ potential arrival is seen as the more thrilling prospect, though competition for his signature is intensifying.
