Manchester United have turned down a bid for Mason Greenwood, as per recent reports.

Greenwood, who was listed for transfer following a review at the end of the season, will not be rejoining Manchester United’s first-team squad.

Clubs across Europe have shown interest in Greenwood, who spent the previous season on loan at Getafe.

Lazio is among the clubs monitoring the forward for the upcoming season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio’s initial offer for Greenwood was rejected by Manchester United.

The Italian club is not willing to increase their €20 million bid to match Manchester United’s asking price of €35 million.

The report states that Lazio intends to submit the same offer again, valid until July 10.

Their proposal included €20 million along with a 50% sell-on clause, but Manchester United rejected it, seeking a higher transfer fee.

Lazio is prepared to offer Greenwood a €3.5 million annual contract, with an additional €500,000 in potential add-ons.

The Rome-based club hopes the deadline will push Manchester United to agree to their terms, given the lack of interest from English clubs and no other offers received so far.

Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille and Benfica are also reportedly interested in acquiring Greenwood this summer.

Following an internal investigation by Manchester United into his conduct, Greenwood was loaned to Getafe for the 2023/24 season.

He was arrested in January 2022 after allegations were made, which included material posted on social media.

All charges against Greenwood, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped on February 2 of last year.

During his loan spell at Getafe, he scored 10 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions.
