He was a better player than Kelvin De Bruyne in 2023 but he is highly underrated which is so sad-Jamie Carragher says £43m Man City player was actually better than Kevin De Bruyne in 2023
Jamie Carragher claims £43 million. In 2023, a Manchester City player outperformed Kevin De Bruyne.
In his EA FC 24 Team of the Year, Jamie Carragher has chosen Bernardo Silva over Kevin De Bruyne.
On Sky Sports (via their YouTube account), the analyst underlined how Silva has been fantastic for the Sky Blues this season while De Bruyne has been largely sidelined due to injury.
Jamie Carragher recently expressed his surprise at Gary Neville’s choice to leave the £43 million (The Telegraph) player off of his Premier League Team of the Season.
In his Team of the Year, Jamie Carragher selects Bernardo Silva above Kevin De Bruyne.
Of course, the Manchester City duo were instrumental in their team winning the treble last season.
De Bruyne, on the other hand, has only made two appearances this season owing to a hamstring injury suffered in City’s first Premier League encounter.
MORE STORIES ABOUT MAN CITY
“I mean, Kevin De Bruyne hasn’t played all season, so he’s only seen half of what we’re voting on.” “I think Bernardo Silva has been Manchester City’s best player this year, outstanding again, as he always is for me, Bernardo Silva,” he told Sky Sports.
“And also, gives you that nice balance [to his team], he’s playing on the side he likes to play on that left side of the midfield three.”
It is entirely reasonable to choose Bernardo Silva over the Manchester City great.
While few would disagree that Kevin De Bruyne was better than Bernardo Silva last season, we believe Jamie Carragher is correct in selecting the latter above the former in his Team of the Year.
Unfortunately for the Belgian maestro, his absence from the squad is due to an injury.
Bernardo Silva, on the other hand, has been in blistering form this season.
One may argue that Kevin De Bruyne, along with Bernardo Silva, should have started.
But, as Jamie Carragher did not select both, it is only fair that the Portuguese midfielder was selected ahead of the 32-year-old.
However, with Kevin De Bruyne back to full fitness, he should be a member of any such team in 2024, as there aren’t many players who can compete with him when he’s firing on all cylinders.
