In the past few months, Arsenal has been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney over and over again. However, the former Gunners forward is still cautious about the idea.

Former Arsenal star Theo Walcott said that January transfer target Ivan Toney looks a lot like Olivier Giroud, who he used to play with at Arsenal.

The last few times Arsenal played at Anfield, they lost badly. They will be happy with a point, but they had chances to win the game. The Gunners could have come back from the red half of Merseyside with all three points if they had been better at finishing.

After the game, Walcott seemed to imply that Arteta knows he needs to get stronger in terms of his attack. He said: “I just feel like Mikel (Arteta) will deep down know what he needs, but we don’t want to dwell on it.”

A fellow Sky Sports commentator, Jamie Redknapp, spoke up and told Walcott that Arsenal has been linked with Brentford star Ivan Toney on many occasions. The former star player for Southampton said he is worried about a possible move for the Bees scorer.

Walcott admitted, “I would be careful with that because he hasn’t played.” The forward looks a lot like Olivier Giroud, who used to play for Arsenal and was a big fan of mine.

They’re missing a little something, but their defence has been strong, and they’ve won titles with just that. I just think they were better than last season.

Toney has a lot of possible suitors, and Chelsea is also thought to be keeping an eye on him. The player, who is 28 years old, is almost done with his eight-month ban for breaking FA betting rules.

Even though there aren’t many world-class strikers on the market right now, Arsenal now has other choices. The Gunners really want to sign Napoli star Victor Osimhen, but the Nigerian international recently signed a new deal with a £130 million release clause, which could make it too expensive for them to do so.

In September, Arteta told the press that the Gunners would not be looking to add a new striker in the middle of the season. He said, “We’re not thinking about that at all.” There are some really good players up front for us. Our bodies are hurt right now, that’s true. We are going to keep the guys we have.”
