The start of the new year will provide several of Chelsea’s fringe players with the opportunity to depart the club in search of greater game time.
With Chelsea already having a large number of players on loan, transferring some members of their present team elsewhere for the remainder of the season may prove difficult due to loan laws.
Nonetheless, the Blues need to find temporary homes for three players when the January transfer window opens.
Madueke, Noni
Noni Madueke joined Chelsea in the January transfer window, however he has only made one Premier League start this season.
With Cole Palmer, 21, and Mykhailo Mudryk, 22, around, he may feel his path is blocked and wish to leave the club permanently.
Madueke, on the other hand, has enormous potential. Last season, Frank Lampard described him as a “clear talent” to Chelsea’s official club website.
If the Blues can, they must loan the 21-year-old out rather than sign him to a long-term contract.
Mr. Armando Broja
Armando Broja’s name should not be at the top of Chelsea’s loan list. And, unlike Madueke, he does not start every week, but he does get a lot of playing time off the bench.
You have to worry about him if the club brings in a new center-forward. The Albania international is already second in line to Nicolas Jackson at Stamford Bridge.
If a player like Victor Osimhen or Ivan Toney joins the Blues, it’s likely that Broja will be sent out on loan.
Mrs. Lesley Ugochukwu
Most people would have expected Lesley Ugochukwu, who joined Chelsea from Rennes in the summer, to go out on loan right immediately, given that he was a teenager who had never played in the Premier League before.
But it did not happen, which was perhaps for the best given Romeo Lavia’s injury.
Mauricio Pochettino now has the Belgian, Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher, and Ugochukwu competing for potentially two spaces now that he is back.
Given this, Ugochukwu may have to join another club if he wants to play in the second half of the season.
