“We didn’t want to take a risk” – Pochettino explains why he left fans frustrated after Christopher Nkunku was not played in Chelsea’s Victory today
Mauricio Pochettino was able to deliver a relatively positive flash interview following today’s match. BeinSports questioned him about leaving the man everyone wanted to see, Christopher Nkunku, on the bench.
Follow this link to view the Chelsea coach speak in the clip. He stated unequivocally that he “didn’t want to take a risk” by employing the attacking midfielder who had recently returned from a long-term ailment. There are plenty of games left, and given how well we were doing, he was never going to be risked.
We knew it wasn’t going to happen from halftime on. Nkunku was the only player on the Chelsea bench who didn’t warm up at all, and it was evident from that moment that he’d been sent on to boost morale and because there were so few other options.
As he said, Pochettino was never going to take a gamble on him, and once we were ahead, our odds of seeing him went to nil.
