Chelsea Manager Mouricio Pochettino has been Sacked this Evening in shocking scene after losing to 2:0 to Everton
It’s getting really tough on Mauricio Pochettino now that Chelsea lost again on the road at Everton. Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin scored goals in the second half that made Goodison Park go crazy. The Blues lost their second game in a row in the northwest in just a few days.
Chelsea began the game with a 4-3-3 formation, and Mykhailo Mudryk looked great down the left side right away. Ashley Young, a veteran of the Premier League, was up next for the Ukrainian, who was looking forward to the task.
But the away team couldn’t really threaten Everton’s goal in the first 45 minutes. Even so, Chelsea’s play had a small amount of control, which was comforting after what happened at Old Trafford less than four days before.
In the first half, Reece James was taken off because he seemed to have another leg problem. James is the captain of Chelsea. The England player looked heartbroken as he walked off the pitch, as his bad luck with injuries kept getting worse.
Chelsea had some control over what was going on in the field, but they were again having trouble getting the ball into the goal. It was Armando Broja’s job to lead the line and make the right runs down the channel, but when he did get the ball, he was often by himself.
When he played Ashley Young (who got hurt) and then Nathan Patterson, Mudryk looked great. But the 22-year-old couldn’t provide that killer ball in the final third, which has been a theme of his Chelsea career so far. He looked very dangerous on the wing, though.
Cole Palmer also looked good, but the England international shot too much and stopped some pretty scary Blues attacks. Enzo Fernandez was moving forward more than Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher, who play with him in the middle of the pitch.
Chelsea almost seemed afraid to send too many players forward during the counterattack in the second half. Most of the time, it was just Mudryk and Broja in the final third when the teams switched sides, which was always bad for the guests.
Then what was going to happen did. Everton took the lead early in the second half thanks to Abdoulaye Doucoure. Chelsea lost any advantage they thought they had in the game. It blew up in Goodison Park.
In extra time, it was the one who made things worse for Pochettino and Chelsea. Dobbin scored a powerful goal for Everton to secure all three points for the home team.
Unfortunately, they played a little better after their terrible game against Manchester United. That won’t make Chelsea fans feel better, though. They will be very worried about how the team is doing right now.
Pochettino is under a lot of heat right now as the head coach of Chelsea. As the club works to build their long-term project, it seems likely that they will back the Argentine.
In football, on the other hand, wins are very important. This is something we heard near the end of Graham Potter’s time in charge at Stamford Bridge. It’s just not good enough.
Before the game, there were a lot of doubts among his fans about his future. Now that Chelsea has lost seven times in the Premier League season, those question marks will be even bigger.
