Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, has said that he might step down if his team wins back-to-back Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League titles. Guardiola surprised everyone by saying that he would stop coaching at the end of this season if City wins their second straight treble. He is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2025.
Guardiola made his plans clear in an interview with Prime Video before the Premier League loss to Aston Villa: “If we win the treble this season, I’ll retire.” Without a doubt.” However, it’s still not clear whether he meant for this to be taken seriously or as a joke. Guardiola knew it would be very hard to do something like that, since English football teams have only won three trebles a few times in history.
Last season, City won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League.
