Following a number of controversial calls in the meeting between the two London rivals, VAR audio from Chelsea’s win over Tottenham last week has been revealed.

The Blues defeated Spurs 4-1 in a game that featured two red cards and many disallowed goals.

Ange Postecoglou’s side gained an early lead when Levi Colwill deflected Dejan Kulusevski’s shot into the Chelsea goal.

After 15 minutes, the game devolved into turmoil as VAR was used many times, notably when assessing a possible red card for Cristian Romero.

Moises Caicedo scored for Chelsea after a scuffle in the Spurs penalty area, but the goal was disallowed because Nicolas Jackson was offside and hindered play.

However, VAR assessed Romero’s previous foul in the penalty area on Enzo Fernandez.

Referee Michael Oliver was called in to examine the game’s progress before confirming a straight red card for Romero and a penalty for Chelsea, which was scored by Cole Palmer to tie the game at 1-1.
