It normally takes people a long time to settle but it took him No time I think he is better than Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish combined- Pundit says £15m player has been a top signing for Pep Guardiola
Glenn Murray hailed Manuel Akanji, a defender for Manchester City, for how well he fit in at the club.
The centre back is in the middle of his second season with the Manchester club, but he won’t be able to play tomorrow against Manchester United because he was sent off and suspended for one game in City’s last Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Even with this bad mark, one commentator who used to play in the Premier League has been praising the center-back and what he’s done at the Etihad Stadium.
Murray said this about Akanji on a recent episode of Team Talks by Premier League Productions (seen on Optus Sport).
“Don’t get me wrong, Akanji will be a big miss,” he said. A lot of people don’t fit right into their Manchester City shirt right away; it usually takes them a long time to get used to it.
But I think Man City will be too strong at Old Trafford this weekend even without him.
The Swiss player joined City from Borussia Dortmund in September of last year in a deal worth £15 million.
As of Wednesday, the 28-year-old had scored his second goal for City in their 3-1 Champions League win over Young Boys. He has played 61 times for the club in all categories since then.
With 52 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 27 blocks in 29 Premier League games last season, Akanji had the third-highest number of tackles and interceptions in the City team.
This shows what a good defender he was, which is why the club did a great thing by signing him.
After thinking about all of that, it’s hard to disagree with Murray about how easy it seems to have been for Akanji to get used to City and become an important player for Pep Guardiola.
