Kalvin Phillips is set to leave Man City in January to join their Premier League rivals
When is it likely that a decision will be made on the Man City star and possible Newcastle move, according to an expert?
Recently, there has been a lot of talk and rumors about Kalvin Phillips leaving Manchester City for another team because he hasn’t been getting enough playing time at the Etihad Stadium.
In his most recent exclusive column for the Daily Briefing, Fabrizio Romano talked about those rumors. He said that a decision on the deal is likely to come later because the England player decided to stay at City in the summer.
If Phillips decides he wants to play more elsewhere after January, Newcastle could be a good place for him to go.
Romano says that for now, there doesn’t seem to be anything concrete happening with this story. He thinks that a final choice will be made closer to January, and Newcastle’s plans will also depend on how they do in the Champions League group stage.
“Calvin Phillips – Even though he has ties to Newcastle and Everton, I haven’t heard of any real talks about this one. “Phillips wanted to stay at City this summer, even though other teams made offers, so he’s still focused on doing his best for City. A decision will be made later, in November or December,” Romano said.
Newcastle won’t make any choices about players they want to sign until they see how their Champions League group plays out.
It seems likely that most Magpies fans would be happy to see an experienced player like Phillips join the team. He was great at his old club, Leeds United, even though he hasn’t had as much success at City.
