Micah Richards, a former Manchester City player and BBC Sport pundit, believes so.

Richards has praised Manchester City star Julian Alvarez, saying that he has been the team’s greatest player this season.

“I think if you look at the system, tactically, how they set up, Alvarez has been Man City’s best player,” the commentator remarked on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He has been the best player because he has been playing in the number 10 role just behind Haaland.”

In eight Premier League games for the Citizens this season, the 23-year-old has three goals and three assists.

The Argentina international, who can play as a winger, forward, or attacking midfielder, has also scored three goals and provided one assist in one start and one substitute appearance for Pep Guardiola’s team in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Haaland, a Norwegian international striker, has eight goals and one assist in eight Premier League games for City this season.

In two UEFA Champions League outings this season, the 23-year-old has failed to score.

Julian Alvarez is a vital player for Manchester City, in my opinion.

And the 23-year-old appears to be enjoying his time at City.

I believe Alvarez, who helped Argentina win the 2022 Qatar World Cup, will play a significant role for City this season.

The Citizens, like last season, are looking to win the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, and the FA Cup this season.

Alvarez, in my opinion, will have to be at the top of his game throughout the campaign for City to be successful.
