Manchester United are about to sack Erik ten Hag and appoint this world class manager after a poor start this season

90min has learned that Manchester United is going to start talks about giving manager Erik ten Hag a new deal.

In his first season in charge, Ten Hag took United to third place in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup. He was hired in 2022. United has had a rough start to the season with four losses and some problems off the field. However, they have answered with two wins in a matter of days. On Tuesday night, they beat Crystal Palace 3-0.

The Dutchman is under contract with United until June 2025, but there is an option to extend the deal for another year. It is known that talks about renewing the deal were always planned for about 18 months into the first contract. The people in charge of the club plan to stay with them and have already talked to Ten Hag’s camp.

The Glazer family said 10 months ago that they were “beginning a process to explore strategic alternatives” that could include investing in the club or selling it. This process has made the club and its staff less stable.

Since he was hired, Chief Executive Richard Arnold has been given full control over all processes. He is trying to keep things running as usual when it comes to renewing contracts for players and staff. Ten Hag is now thought to be in the running for talks after Marcus Rashford signed a new long-term deal over the summer.

It’s said that Arnold and John Murtough are very happy with Ten Hag and will continue to support him, even though they’ve had some bad luck recently and had problems off the field. As of late, they have shown their support for Ten Hag, 53, during a fight between the boss and Jadon Sancho. They think he is still the best person to lead United’s forwards.

Recently, Ten Hag said in public that the club asked him to “set and control standards” because “there was no good culture” before he joined from Ajax. Powerful people fully support the manager, even though a lot of money was spent on Sancho in 2021 on both his transfer fee and his pay.

In the past year, Cristiano Ronaldo left the club after another public fight with Ten Hag. In the past few months, Harry Maguire was also removed as captain. The club sees Ten Hag as the most important person in keeping the players and staff united and on track while they wait to find out who owns the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim are still in the running to buy United from the Glazer family, but they haven’t heard back yet. Raine Group is in charge of managing the takeover on behalf of the family. They are even waiting for the Glazers to get back to them about the offers that have been made for United. They may be hanging out for £6bn in order to get a full sale.
