“He will disturb Arsenal very much today, you must appoint Declan Declan Rice or William Saliba to man-mark him throughout the game”- Arsenal icon has picks out ONE Tottenham star that will be the biggest threat to Arsenal in the North London Derby
An Arsenal legend has identified ONE Tottenham player as the team’s biggest threat in the North London Derby, saying, “He will disturb Arsenal very much today. You must appoint Declan Declan Rice or William Saliba to man-mark him throughout the game.” Not Son Heung Min, Maddison, or Kulusevsci.
Ian Wright selects a surprise Tottenham player to put Arsenal in danger on derby day Arsenal great Ian Wright has unexpectedly identified Richarlison as a significant threat to the Gunners going into this Sunday’s north London derby.
Both teams enter the contest in top form and are unbeaten in the league, but a win for the host squad would move them above Spurs in the standings.
The Gunners were in Champions League action on Wednesday night when they thrashed PSV, giving Ange Postecoglou’s team the advantage of a full week to prepare.
In comparison to his predecessors, Postecoglou is undoubtedly getting more from the Tottenham players, and Wright is especially cautious of Richarlison’s threat if the Brazilian is given the start.
The former Everton player had a terrible first season with the team, and things were not looking much better at the beginning of this one until the victory over Sheffield United the last time out.
In extra time against the Blades, Richarlison came off the bench to score an equalise and then put up Dejan Kulusevski for the game-winning goal.
Wright also expressed concern about Richarlison’s apparent return to form and the form that Spurs are currently displaying under Postecoglou to Optus Sport.
“You’re looking at a team that is now very self-assured and a player up front who, if he can now throw in 10–12 goals—which he’s easily capable of doing Richarlison, now his head’s clear and everything—they’re going to cause problems,” he said.
“The manager has given him time out of it, brought him in, and eased him into it, and now he feels more at ease,” the manager said of the man who appears to have stopped the noise in his mind.
If Postecoglou chooses to start Son Heung-min through the middle once more, Richarlison might not even play; Brennan Johnson is also vying for the starting spot after his strong bench debut last weekend.
