If He Continues to miss chance like this I don’t he will start for City again- Pep Guardiola says City Star critics are playing dangerous game over missed Man City chances
According to Pep Guardiola, opponents of Erling Haaland for Man City’s wasted opportunities are engaging in risky behavior.
Erling Haaland’s coach, Pep Guardiola, has jumped to his defense, threatening to have anyone who questions his finishing soon regret their words.
Haaland has continued his amazing goal-scoring style since joining Manchester City, with seven goals and two assists in seven matches this season. However, in the last two games against Red Star Belgrade and West Ham, the striker has blown nine clear opportunities, including two at the London Stadium from point blank range and a header that struck the crossbar in the Champions League.
It has been noted that although though Haaland scored against Red Star and set up Julian Alvarez 80 seconds into the second half against West Ham, he might have easily scored ten goals in the two matches. Guardiola, meanwhile, cautioned that criticizing Haaland is a risky game.
Guardiola remarked, “He has had amazing opportunities and he could have scored 14–15 goals [this season] and it would be the same debate.” It’s crucial to remember his repeated mantra, “I have the chance, I have the chance, I have the chance,” though. The issue arises when I miss opportunities, don’t get balls, or am in the incorrect position.
“I would advise against giving Erling too much criticism. Never, ever criticize the striker who scored all those goals because he will score and you will have to apologize to him.” Instead, criticize the manager, the central defender, or the full back.”
Haaland played in the Champions League final until June 10 and had just a brief respite before preseason, according to Guardiola, who also stated that his condition has been monitored in training from the beginning of the season. “He gets better every week, and everything is there. He poses a serious threat.
He has had numerous opportunities, which indicates that we are playing well. Considering how many opportunities Erling gets, I always get the impression that the squad is performing fairly well. If he is not participating in chances, then our procedure and dynamic are not working well.
“We are doing a lot of nice things because we created a lot of chances and the ball is there. It needs to go on. He’s always there. He now has a great goal scoring record and will continue to do so in the future.
Guardiola was unconcerned with any concept of wastefulness from his players, claiming that the chances produced guarantee his team will continue to score goals going forward. Over the course of the last two games, City has peppered the nets of West Ham and Red Star with 56 shots, of which 31 were on target.
“It’s soccer. “You ask why, and I’ll tell you it’s because of football,” he continued. Maybe in the future, we’ll generate fewer opportunities, but for now, he’ll have three goals and three shots on goal. More to my liking, that.
“Although the result against West Ham was disappointing, the way you are playing is not,” I stated at halftime. Be more aggressive in front of goal; convey that you want to win the game for yourself by scoring goals. We possess the caliber. Phil has the ability to score, Erling, so keep your cool.
We simply must maintain our stability and optimism. Making opportunities and being present are crucial. We had a good number of on-target shots—we had 29–30 against West Ham and 30 versus Red Star. You must take that action, and if you do, we will win a lot of games.”
