Pep Guardiola responds to Man Utd and Chelsea’s poor start in the Premier League this season

Pep Guardiola firmly believes that both Manchester United and Chelsea will make progress following their disappointing beginning to the current Premier League season.

Guardiola acknowledged that every team faces challenges throughout the season and expressed his confidence in their ability to bounce back.

Erik ten Hag, the United manager, faces increased pressure after their 3-1 defeat against Brighton, while Chelsea’s goal-scoring difficulties persisted with a goalless draw against Bournemouth.

United have now suffered three losses in their first five Premier League games, while Chelsea have registered just one win in their opening five fixtures and have recorded just five points in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino.

But while Guardiola has praised how Arsenal and Liverpool have started the new season, the City manager believes both United and Chelsea will hit form ā€˜sooner or laterā€™.

But to start in that way, and important teams are taking distances now.

But, you know, how strong are Arsenal, yesterday I saw the game at Goodison Park [against Everton], they are exceptional.

ā€˜Liverpool, again, their mentality continues there.ā€™

When asked about Unitedā€™s start, Guardiola laughed and replied: ā€˜Well they didnā€™t start like I think they expected, like Chelsea, but always Man United, Chelsea, sooner or later they take the rhythm.

ā€˜But it is important for us, after winning the treble, [winning] five from five is really, really good.ā€™
