Gareth Southgate has announced terrible news about Harry Maguire
“It’s a joke,” England manager Gareth Southgate says following fresh criticism of his players.
Gareth Southgate, England manager, has defended Harry Maguire after additional criticism following Tuesday night’s 3-1 win against Scotland.
The Manchester United player scored an own goal in the second half after coming off the bench at halftime, sparking another debate about the centre-back, who has had a difficult time in his career over the last two seasons.
Southgate said after the game that he has never seen a player handled like Maguire and that the criticism of the defender is a joke.
“It’s a result of ridiculous treatment of him for a long period of time,” England manager Gareth Southgate stated via Tim Spiers. It’s a farce; I’ve never seen a player handled like this, not by Scottish fans, not by our own commentators, pundits, or whoever.
“It’s above and beyond anything I’ve ever seen.”
