When Manchester United tweeted an article showing Alejandro Garnacho’s dedication to Lionel Messi, fans chastised the club for their lack of support for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo scored 145 goals and provided 64 assists in 345 games in all competitions during his two stints at Old Trafford. During his first stay in the 2000s, the Portuguese star evolved into one of the best in the game, winning three Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, and a Ballon d’Or.
His second stint wasn’t as successful as his first, as he went trophyless before leaving by mutual accord in November of last year.
He is, nevertheless, a true club legend.Meanwhile, his arch-rival Lionel Messi shone in Argentina’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying opener against Ecuador on Thursday (September 7).
His winning free kick in the 78th minute linked him with another United legend, David Beckham (65), for fourth place overall.With his 29th goal in CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner also tied leading scorer Luis Suarez. United marked the occasion with a tribute from Alejandro Garnacho and a photo of Messi.
