Todd Boehly Breaks Silence after Kepa Arrizabalaga revealed Boehly FORCED him to leave Chelsea

Todd Boehly has broken his silence on Kepa’s insensitive comment regarding the Chelsea project.
Kepa Arrizabalaga has claimed that he quit Chelsea this summer after becoming disenchanted with the ‘project’ that Todd Boehly was overseeing and because he felt the need for a change of scenery.

After tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), Thibaut Courtois caused Real Madrid to need a replacement for the goalkeeper position, thus they brought in the Spaniard on loan last month.

Kepa offered a criticism of Boehly’s buying spree in a manner that was only slightly veiled while speaking to Spanish radio COPE. He also stated that he did not give much consideration to leaving Chelsea.

He explained, “I just felt like it was time for a change of scenery.”

I really considered staying, but I had the feeling that this particular endeavor was not the one for me.

The Blues spent a whopping £72 million to acquire Kepa from Athletic Bilbao in 2018, which was the most price ever paid for a goalkeeper, but this summer they only spent £25 million to acquire Robert Sanchez from Brighton. Kepa’s transfer set a record for the greatest fee ever paid for a goalkeeper.

Kepa stated that Pochettino wanted him to remain at Stamford Bridge when he let Edouard Mendy to depart, but the Spaniard felt he needed a change and decided to quit the club.

‘Yes, it was really fast,’ he said when asked about his move to Real Madrid by Marca.

“It’s true that Pochettino wanted me to stay, and he told me that I was going to play, that he trusted me, but I thought that a change would be good for me, and I wanted a change,” he said. “It’s also true that I wanted a change.”
