“They made us lose the trophy to Arsenal”- Kevin De Bruyne gave a bitter post-match interview and confessed he was highly impressed by what THREE Arsenal players did in the Community Shield
Kevin De Bruyne said bitterly in an interview after the game, “They made us lose the trophy to Arsenal,” referring to the actions of three Arsenal players.
DE BRUYNE, IMPRESSED BY ARSENAL’S THREE SIGNINGS SINCE WINNING THE COMMUNITY SHIELD
After beating Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, Kevin de Bruyne praised Arsenal’s ‘huge’ transfer decision to acquire Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber.
In his postgame interview, the Manchester City midfielder mentioned how Mikel Arteta showed the value of his three new players by starting them all against his club.
Declan Rice, who signed for the club in a record-breaking deal, started in the middle of the field but was eventually replaced by Jurrien Timber at left back and Kai Havertz in place of Gabriel Jesus up top.
One could make the case that the lesser-known Dutch star was the most impressive.
This summer, Arsenal’s signing of Rice garnered the most attention due to the club’s high transfer fee, while Chelsea’s acquisition of Havertz raised many eyebrows.
Meanwhile, Timber flew under the radar and, surprise!, was one of the greatest players on the field at Wembley, with Kevin De Bruyne expressing his approval of the club’s signings.
“I think they are good players,” de Bruyne said of the newly acquired Rice, Havertz, and Timber. They have already purchased the things they have identified as necessities.
I believe all three got first-team playing time, which makes them significant additions to the team. We all know that teams in this league are always spending money since everyone is focused on their own squad and everyone has so much of it. Every year is a new challenge. We’re doing what we can to keep things the same.
Timber is unparalleled in quality.
You should be thrilled about this signing. Timber’s ability to switch to midfield after defending on the left or right makes him a crucial piece for the upcoming season.
Not only that, but he did a tremendous job on defense. He anticipated danger and neutralized it before it could cause Man City any problems.
It won’t be long before Arsenal fans are demanding he start alongside William Saliba.
